About the show

A doctor travels to a remote village to vaccinate its inhabitants against a mysterious plague that transforms the infected into zombie-like creatures. Accompanied by a coachman, he sets out in an unconventional sleigh pulled by fifty grotesquely tiny horses. As they journey deeper into the snow-covered landscape, their expedition becomes increasingly surreal. They encounter frozen giants, stay with a sensual miller and her small, malevolent husband, and meet a drug-dealing group called the Dopaminers. After hallucinogenic experiences and near-death moments, the doctor gains new appreciation for life. Yet the titular snowstorm intensifies, turning their journey into a nightmarish struggle for survival. Drawing on Russian literary tradition while set in a bizarre future that mirrors contemporary anxieties, the narrative blurs reality and fantasy. The doctor ultimately fails in his mission; his coachman freezes to death dreaming of a butterfly, while the doctor is rescued by Chinese travelers—a symbolic image of geopolitical shifts.
