Please read these terms carefully before using ITDb.

Welcome to ITDb (International Theatre Database). ITDb is a structured theatre archive and information platform designed to document, preserve, and provide access to performance-related data. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
1. Purpose of ITDb
ITDb is intended to serve as:
- A structured archival database of theatrical works, productions, and performances
- A public-facing reference tool for theatre professionals and theatre-goers
- A foundation for future digital services, including analytics and structured data access
ITDb aims to balance public cultural value with sustainable digital infrastructure development.
2. Intellectual Property & Database Rights
2.1 Platform Ownership
The database structure, metadata schema (including but not limited to Work–Production–Performance hierarchy), classification logic, interface design, and original editorial content are proprietary to ITDb and protected under applicable copyright and database protection laws, including EU Database Directive rights where applicable.
2.2 Third-Party Content
Names of productions, venues, artists, and related trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. ITDb does not claim ownership over such intellectual property.
2.3 Database Compilation Rights
Even where individual factual data elements may not be protected, the selection, arrangement, and structured compilation of data within ITDb constitute a protected database. Unauthorized extraction or reutilization of substantial parts of the database is prohibited.
3. Permitted Use
Users may:
- Access and browse information for personal and professional reference
- Share limited excerpts with proper attribution
- Submit correction or update requests
Users may not:
- Systematically reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit the database
- Build derivative or competing databases
- Use automated tools to extract substantial data
- Use database content for AI training or large-scale dataset generation without authorization
4. Prohibition of Scraping & Automated Access
Automated access, scraping, crawling, data mining, or systematic extraction of data is prohibited unless explicitly authorized in writing.
ITDb reserves the right to:
- Block suspicious traffic
- Enforce technical protection measures
- Pursue legal remedies under applicable jurisdiction
5. Accuracy & Archival Disclaimer
ITDb strives to maintain accurate and up-to-date records. However:
- Information may contain errors or omissions.
- Casting, venues, or production details may change without notice.
- Historical records may reflect available public sources.
ITDb provides information "as is" and disclaims liability for decisions made based on database content. Users are encouraged to verify time-sensitive information with official production channels.
6. User Submissions & Corrections
Users may submit correction or update requests.
By submitting content, users grant ITDb a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to review, edit, and incorporate the submitted material into the database.
ITDb is not obligated to implement suggested changes.
7. Commercial Licensing & API Access
ITDb may offer:
- Structured data exports
- API access
- Analytics services
- Institutional or enterprise data solutions
Such services are governed by separate agreements.
Nothing in these Terms grants users commercial exploitation rights.

8. GDPR & Data Protection (Global Compliance)
8.1 Personal Data Scope
ITDb primarily provides performance-related factual data. Where personal data is processed (e.g., user accounts, correction requests, contact forms), it is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
8.2 GDPR Rights (For EU Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request rectification or deletion
- Restrict or object to processing
- Request data portability
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

8.3 Data Minimization
ITDb commits to collecting only data necessary for service provision and maintaining reasonable data security measures.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- ITDb shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- ITDb is not responsible for inaccuracies originating from third-party sources.
- Service availability is not guaranteed.
10. Service Modifications
ITDb may:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue features
- Update database structure
- Restrict access in cases of misuse
ITDb will strive to provide reasonable notice where feasible.
11. Public Cultural Mission
ITDb recognizes the cultural significance of theatre documentation and aims to operate responsibly as a digital cultural archive. At the same time, ITDb must protect its structural database rights to ensure sustainability and long-term service continuity.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Republic of Korea, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide otherwise.
13. Updates to These Terms
ITDb may revise these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
