Knud Adams is an American theatre director based in New York City. He made his directorial debut with Tom & Eliza at JACK, and has since established himself as a leading voice in contemporary theatre. Adams achieved historic recognition as the first director to premiere consecutive Pulitzer Prize-winning plays: English by Sanaz Toossi and Primary Trust by Eboni Booth. His work on English garnered widespread acclaim, earning him a Tony Award nomination for Best Direction of a Play, as well as nominations from the Drama League Awards, Drama Desk Awards, and a Special Citation from the Obie Awards in 2025. His subsequent production of Cold War Choir Practice received nominations from both the Drama League Awards and The Lortels in 2026. Adams's additional directing credits include The Headlands, I'm Revolting, Paris, The Unbelievers, and Every Angel is Brutal.
