Clemence Williams

Clemence Williams is an award-winning director, composer, and Tony nominated sound designer. Clemence has directed opera, musicals, and theatre across Australia and the United Kingdom. Directorial highlights include Chamber Pot Opera at the Sydney Opera House; The Magic Flute at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA); and Breaking Glass at Sydney Chamber Opera, which won Best Performance at the 2021 APRA AMCOS Art Music awards. She has directed numerous independent theatre productions, and developed and staged readings of new work. Clemence has been an assistant director on several productions for Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, and the Sydney Conservatorium, including an award-winning production of the musical Fun Home. As a composer and sound designer, Clemence has worked on numerous award-winning productions at Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare, and Belvoir St Theatre. Notable composition works include The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Death of a Salesman, The Wolves, Arbus and West and Torch the Place. Her work in composition and sound design has been nominated for numerous theatre awards inlcuding a Tony for the Broadway production of The Picture of Dorian Gray.
