What happens when you meet someone who feels like home? Majenin follows a Palestinian comedian and a Palestinian artist who meet in New York and fall into an intense, whirlwind romance that carries them across borders and into a life together in London. What begins with tea, late-night food, music and the intoxicating promise of a shared future quickly becomes something more complicated. As their relationship begins to unravel, love, longing and heartbreak become entangled with questions of home, identity, culture and the impossible weight of a homeland that neither of them can escape. Majenin, meaning “crazy people” in Arabic, is a darkly funny and deeply human love story about two Palestinians living in the diaspora and the madness of falling in love when neither person is entirely free from the past. Moving between stand-up comedy and intimate theatre, the play explores what it means to build a life between cultures, to love while carrying inherited trauma, and to long for home when home itself has become complicated. At its heart is a question: what does it mean to have the right to love, not just the right to survive? Kufiya Comedy is a nonprofit arts and entertainment organization dedicated to empowering underrepresented artists through comedy, storytelling, theater, film, and community-centered cultural experiences. Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for artist development by providing platforms where emerging and established creatives can refine their craft, share their stories, connect with audiences, and build sustainable careers in the arts. Through live performances, theater productions, festivals, educational programming, creative collaborations, and cultural events, we help artists gain visibility, develop professionally, and contribute to a more vibrant and representative creative landscape.
