Christmas Eve, Bridgend, Wales. Beth, a tightly wound Welsh Londoner and sister Catrin, a volatile recovering addict, reunite a year after their mothers death. Their bond is tested by buried resentment, addiction, and the shadow of Catrin’s recent overdose. When Beth’s boyfriend Zac arrives unannounced, questions of codependency and control emerge. The sisters are drawn into a volatile confrontation that exposes long-buried secrets surrounding the death and threatens to destroy what remains of their relationship. Contemporary and deeply human, a three hander exploring Welsh identity, the delicate violence of sisterhood, and how love and harm often speak the same language. The play asks: what does it mean to love someone when you know you cannot save them? Where is the line between protecting someone and controlling them, between forgiveness and complicity, between love and harm? And whether we can ever escape the families and places that made us. It asks what Welsh identity becomes when viewed from both inside and outside Wales: what is inherited, what is resisted, and what remains?
