SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS

About the show

Six city dwellers retreat to nature seeking silence and solitude, only to discover that their vow of quiet cannot suppress the fundamentally human drive to connect. As awkward glances, suppressed emotions, and involuntary sounds puncture the enforced stillness, they grapple with profound and absurd internal struggles. Written by award-winning playwright Bess Wohl, this innovative production transforms silence itself into a storytelling medium. Audiences wear individual headphones to experience an immersive soundscape engineered by indie collective Counterpilot, tuning them into every whisper, sigh, and stifled laugh. Directed by Bridget Boyle and Nathan Sibthorpe, the production asks how we address life's deepest questions when words fail us, blending raw human vulnerability with sharp comedy.
