About the show

42nd Street meets Titanique. Premiered Off-Off Broadway in 1966, making a star of Bernadette Peters. Dames at Sea is a musical parody of large, flashy 1930s Busby Berkeley-style movie musicals in which a chorus girl, newly arrived off the bus from the Midwest to New York City, steps into a role on Broadway and becomes a star. Think 42nd Street and Gold Diggers of 1933. Dames At Sea has had several productions in Sydney at Marian Street Theatre in 1988 directed by Nancye Hayes and at the Sydney Opera House in 1994.
