HORSEGIRL & COWDADDY

About the show

Horsegirl & Cowdaddy marks a world premiere of DJ Hills' play, directed by Adil Mansoor in a co-production with Soho Rep. The play centers on Horsegirl, a trans woman in her thirties whose quiet life in a small Pennsylvania town is upended when she meets a newly arrived teacher. An attraction between them sparks an unexpected physical transformation, forcing Horsegirl to confront fundamental questions about her own happiness and identity. The production features multiple accessibility options and community-focused programming throughout its run, including relaxed performances, open caption presentations, talkback sessions, and themed community nights designed to deepen audience engagement with the work.
