This stage adaptation of Dickens' novel follows interconnected lives during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror. Set in 1770s Paris and London, the story centres on Sydney Carton, a disillusioned English barrister; Charles Darnay, a French aristocrat turned revolutionary; and Lucie Manette, a charming émigré woman with whom both men fall in love. As political upheaval intensifies, personal relationships become entangled with the dangerous forces of the era, testing loyalties and forcing impossible choices. The production explores themes of love, sacrifice, and redemption against the backdrop of historical turmoil. Adapted by Terence Rattigan and John Gielgud from Charles Dickens' celebrated novel, it examines whether any price is too high for love in times of revolution.
