“Just one moment between you and me, a moment that will never come again.” In 1965, Francesca lives a quiet, ordinary life in rural Iowa with her husband, Richard “Bud” Johnson, and their two children. Yet beneath the routine of everyday life, she feels an inexplicable emptiness. One day, her husband and children leave for an agricultural fair in Illinois, leaving Francesca alone. Freed, if only briefly, from her everyday roles as a wife and mother, she decides to spend the day entirely for herself. That afternoon, Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer who has come to Madison County to photograph the Roseman Bridge, appears before Francesca as if by fate. From their very first meeting, the two feel an undeniable attraction. When Francesca offers to show Robert the bridge, their connection deepens, and they soon find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. For Francesca, who has grown more accustomed to being called a “wife” than a “woman,” and Robert, who has spent his life wandering the world in search of meaning, a once-in-a-lifetime love arrives unexpectedly. As they come to understand each other’s feelings, Robert and Francesca are faced with four unforgettable days of irresistible, fateful love...
