Dear Evan Hansen is a poignant and heart-wrenching story about the longing to be seen and to belong. Created in 2015, the musical has enjoyed immense success on Broadway in New York and London’s West End, among other venues, and was adapted into a film in 2021. The music and deeply moving songs were written by Grammy, Tony, Olivier, and Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who also penned the lyrics for the films La La Land and The Greatest Showman. Now, for the first time, you can experience the brilliant musical Dear Evan Hansen in Denmark, a production created through a collaboration between Aarhus Teater, The Royal Danish Theatre, and LION Musicals. Evan is young, lonely, and suffers from social anxiety. When a classmate commits suicide, a letter Evan wrote to himself is mistaken for a farewell note addressed to him by the classmate. The deceased’s family mistakenly believes the two were best friends. Evan plays along with the deception, entangling himself in a web of lies, while his popularity at school and on social media begins to soar. Trapped in a perilous lie, Evan faces a painful reckoning with himself and everyone around him as the truth comes to light.
