The Young Vic
A theatrical work responding to the felling of the Sycamore Gap tree in the North East of England. The production interweaves original narratives with regional folklore, historical events, and speculative futures, ranging from the Roman construction of Hadrian's Wall to the filming of Robin Hood. The piece examines why the loss of a single tree resonated widely and what such loss reveals about human relationships with past, future, and community. Developed as part of the Shed Originals script development programme in partnership with The Lowry, this is a work-in-progress show from a prominent writer from across the UK and Ireland.
