A newly choreographed duet by renowned Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, BREL draws inspiration from the iconic chansons of French-Belgian singer Jacques Brel. The work marks De Keersmaeker's latest creation and showcases her distinctive approach to translating music and emotion into movement. De Keersmaeker herself performs alongside Solal Mariotte, a rising dancer from her Rosas company and former breakdancer, creating a cross-generational artistic dialogue. The duet explores the moods, gestures, and narratives inherent in Brel's most celebrated songs, combining the raw physicality of his legendary performances with complex choreographic language. The result is described as a restless, passionate, and often rebellious piece that conveys distinctive emotional intensity through movement.
