Antonín Dvořák composed this Requiem between late 1889 and 1890, creating one of his most spiritually profound and emotionally resonant works. Structured in two parts, the piece opens with a solemn evocation of the Last Judgment, characterized by quiet intensity and somber tones. The second part gradually shifts toward consolation and acceptance, presenting a deeply human meditation on mortality. Rather than emphasizing despair, the work affirms Dvořák's lifelong belief in spiritual continuity, offering a compassionate exploration of life's mysteries. For large-scale forces including four soloists, full orchestra, and mixed chorus, the Requiem integrates Dvořák's characteristic lyricism with sacred grandeur. Radiant orchestration, refined choral writing, and soaring vocal lines create a layered, transcendent soundscape that showcases the composer at his artistic height. The National Theatre Brno Orchestra and Choir, led by newly appointed Chief Conductor Robert Kružík, presents this ra
