About the show

Students from the Academy's School of Chinese Opera present three linked selections from the classic novel "The Journey to the West." The program features "Monkey King and the Skeleton Demon," "Zhu Bajie Bearing His Wife," and "The Monkey King Borrows the Magic Fan," showcasing traditional Cantonese operatic performance styles, elaborate percussion work, and martial choreography drawn from one of China's most celebrated literary works. The production combines student performers with faculty direction and design expertise.
