KXT on Broadway
A comedy-drama by emerging Sydney playwright Isabella Reid, set in Northern Ireland in 1977. The Glynne family gathers to mourn their mother Daphne, remembered for her passion for swing-dancing, brooch collection, and recent embrace of lesbianism. As ten family members attempt to organize a proper wake, they discover that managing their grief, family dynamics, and acceptance proves far more challenging than they anticipated. The play explores themes of grief, religion, and family bonds amid the political and social turbulence of the era, balancing dark humor with genuine emotional depth.
