London had to wait 35 years for the arrival of the Broadway hit Dreamgirls to reach the West End, so the mere 14 years we’ve had to wait for Next to Normal is, by comparison, fairly modest. Next to Normal is an intimate exploration of family and illness, loss and grief. At its heart is Caissie Levy as Diana Goodman, a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past. Michael Longhurst directs this powerful and emotionally charged rock musical with music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey.
