Thalia Theater
Premiere
Based on Fatma Aydemir's bestselling novel, this production tells the story of a Turkish-German family reunited for a funeral after decades of separation. Hüseyin, who spent thirty years working silently in Germany, purchased an apartment in Istanbul shortly before his death—a gesture toward an alternate life never lived. The family Yılmaz gathers for his burial, their reunion exposing fractures and connections that shape their bond. Director Hakan Savaş Mican adapts the novel's six interwoven perspectives into a theatrical experience that layers memory, loss, and affection. Each narrative thread reveals new dimensions, unfolding through the interplay of voices on stage.
