Two cousins reunite during a three-day furlough, one returning from a stint in prison and the other arriving from the west coast. As a correctional officer's arrival looms, they confront unspoken truths, question the reliability of their shared memories, and imagine together a future they must build. The play explores themes of loss, belonging, kinship, and the possibility of liberation through connection. Winner of the 2025 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, this work engages with Black life and language to examine grief and the yearning for collective freedom.
