In this adaptation of Ionesco's 1959 absurdist classic, a provincial French town descends into chaos when its citizens inexplicably begin transforming into rhinoceroses. The mild-mannered Berenger watches in dismay as those around him—friends, colleagues, lovers—gradually abandon their humanity, succumbing to the herd's primal call. Trapped between conformity and conviction, Berenger faces an agonizing decision: resist alone or surrender to the stampede. Directed by Liz Diamond with choreography by Emily Coates, this tragicomic production explores themes of individuality, mass hysteria, and the cost of standing apart. The play's surreal logic and escalating transformation scenes create both dark comedy and devastating commentary on human nature and societal pressure.
