Ferdinand is madly in love with Luise, and Luise is in love with Ferdinand. Life could actually be wonderful, were it not for the difference in their social standing: Luise is of the middle classes and Ferdinand is of the nobility. With unexpected force, this love gives rise to a social conflict that extends right into the ranks of the most powerful, revealing just how political love is. Schiller dissects love and its limits mercilessly and with great tension. In a co-production with the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, director Anne Lenk will turn her gaze to this abyss of the human soul and its interaction with the system surrounding it. In this first joint production by the Thalia Theatre and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, an ensemble of actors from both theatres will take to the stage, performing alternately in both cities. From the DT ensemble, the cast includes Felix Goeser and Maren Eggert, who returns to the Thalia as a guest performer in this production.
