A retro-futuristic theatre piece In front of a huge green screen, Ray Bradbury imagines a film adaptation of his ‹Chroniken vom Mars›. In his book, published in 1950, he described the colonization of Mars in loosely connected short stories: in the future of 1999, the Martians suspect that the end of their civilization is approaching. The first human expeditions fail due to the complex, telepathically highly gifted Martian culture, but bring in chickenpox. Mars becomes an extinct planet and nothing stands in the way of its exploitation. The humans take possession of Mars, bringing with them their idealism, but also their greed and violence. In a retro-futuristic live theater film, director Philippe Quesne observes how we humans are capable of the best and the worst.
