About the show

Invisible Thread is a powerful, off-Broadway musical that premiered at Second Stage Theater (Tony Kiser Theatre) in 2015. Originally titled Witness Uganda, the show was co-created by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, directed by Diane Paulus, and featured a world-pop score mixed with African beats. The musical is inspired by co-creator Griffin Matthews' real-life experiences. It follows a young, idealistic New York City man who volunteers for a volunteer/aid project in Uganda, where his well-intentioned ambitions collide with the complex realities of charity work, poverty, and cultural divides.
