About the show

Breaking the Story is an Off-Broadway dark comedy/drama by playwright Alexis Scheer that premiered at Second Stage Theater's Tony Kiser Theater. The story centers on Marina (played by Maggie Siff), a fearless, battle-scarred foreign war correspondent attempting to retire from the frontlines to pursue a peaceful, domestic life and marry her cameraman, Bear. The play navigates the blurred lines between personal trauma, ambition, and the pull of the career you think you have left behind. As her friends and family gather to celebrate her receipt of a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, Marina is forced to reckon with the ghosts of the wars she covered and the trauma she carries.
