Gregory Thompson’s 19th century set production featured Nina Sosanya as Rosalind, the first black actor to play the part for the RSC. Sosanya’s savvy and self-sufficient Rosalind had no romantic illusions about men, which chimed with modern sensibilities. Critics also noted John Killoran’s engaging Touchstone, David Fielder’s unusual guru-like Jaques and Naomi Frederick’s innocent but pleasant Celia.
