Morten Hee Andersen returns as the ultimate seducer in Molière’s tragicomedy of deception, desire, and self-delusion. Don Juan always follows his heart, surrendering himself freely to overwhelming beauty, intoxicating infatuation, and the pleasures of love. With his loyal servant Sganarelle by his side, he is constantly on the run from the consequences of his actions—always in pursuit of his next conquest. Everything is done in the name of liberation, for Don Juan bows to no rules, laws, or conventions. But can one truly live a life without regard for others, guided only by personal desire? Or will retribution eventually catch up with him? Don Juan exposes the hypocrisy of moral guardians, yet he himself is the ultimate master of pretence. Can love and passion alone sustain an entire life? Does selfish, amoral liberation lead to true freedom—or only to exile and ruin? Experience Molière’s classic comedy in a bold, physical, and musically infused staging by the Royal Danish Playhouse’s resident director, Anna Balslev. A production where humour and seduction take centre stage, and where Don Juan commands the spotlight of the Main Stage.
