Lucy Bailey's production played in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon from January to February 2013, before embarking on a UK tour. Designed by William Dudley, the production showed the court at Sicilia as a decadent palace, while Bohemia is an industrial seaside town complete with pier, deckchairs and sewage outlet. Throughout the play, in Sicilia and Bohemia there is a vast tower, at the top of which Leontes sits, enduring 16 years of guilt.
