About the show

Hair tonic manufacturer Gottlieb Biedermann dismisses his employee Knechtling, who is actually the true inventor of his success. Driven by a guilty conscience, Biedermann makes a decision: he wants to see the good in people for once. Intoxicated by his own idealism, he grants two strangers hospitality, even though he knows they are arsonists. Disguised as poor peddlers, they nestle in the attics of respectable citizens—and reduce everything to ashes. Director Stefan Pucher stages Max Frisch's parable about society's inability to change—an absurd game with the demons born of our fears and life lies.
