Bühnen Bern
Karl Rossmann is sent to America by his father in the hope that the reality there will bring him to his senses. Hardly has he arrived when Rossmann encounters enigmatic people who will accompany him from then on, until he ends up in the "Great Theater of Oklahoma." For his unfinished novel The Man Who Disappeared, which his friend and literary executor Max Brod renamed America, Kafka used the perception of movement offered by the increasingly popular cinema. In an almost cinematic editing technique, Kafka's narrative images shift, the spaces literally flowing into one another. For the first time at the Konzert Theater Bern, Ueli Jäggi tackles this grotesque odyssey of a man slowly disappearing amidst strange encounters and mechanical acceleration.
