Take Me to Neverland is a dark re-imagining of JM Barrie's Peter Pan. Trapped in an institution and unable to fly, Peter struggles to distinguish between real and make-believe. The production deconstructs a classic children's tale to explore mature themes through familiar characters, examining prejudice and abuse against institutionalised patients in the early 1900s, and the stigma surrounding mental health today. TMTN follows Peter's life in an orphanage and a mental institution (ten years apart) in Kensington, London, blending forms and styles for a contemporary, hybrid experience with comic moments and child-like wonder balancing the darkness.
