Betty Nansen Teatret
Polish star director Ewelina Marciniak comes to the Betty Nansen Theatre with her special look at classic and well-known stories. The mind of youth is a magnifying glass – especially when it comes to love. Here, people love wholeheartedly, as if they will never be able to love again. Marciniak lets the story of young love form the foundation for a focus on the fragile relationship between parents who want to understand and teenagers who want to be understood. Neither succeeds. While the young people feel EVERYTHING, their parents have given up most of it and therefore don’t feel much – not even their own children. A performance about generational trauma and powerlessness when people lose their grip on those they love most. The family’s simultaneously safe embrace and constricting bond forms the foundation. Ewelina Marciniak puts a young team on stage, so that both the wild teenage love and the feeling of being misunderstood get a realistic and living face. Today's youth have a sea of opportunities – and nothing to use them for. Therein lies the tragedy – also for Romeo and Juliet.
