The Old Fitz Theatre
Elena Sergeevna is a young school teacher. Unmarried and living alone while her mother is sick in hospital, she plans to spend the evening of her birthday alone, when four of her teenage students suddenly arrive at her door bearing gifts. However, what begins as a joyous and spontaneous celebration soon turns sour as the students' true intentions are revealed. An evening of terror ensues, and Elena Sergeevna is faced with the consequences of the corrupt system to which she has applied her morality. Written in 1980s Soviet Russia by Lyudmila Razumovskaya, Dear Elena Sergeevna is a dynamic play written with gritty urgency and lyrical precision. It questions the hierarchy of one's values and morals, and is unforgiving in its exploration of humanity.
