“In this moment, when the world has fallen apart, I will become your music.” Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel The Phantom of the Opera (Le Fantôme de l’Opéra, 1910), Phantom was reimagined as a musical by Tony Award-winning playwright Arthur Kopit and composer Maury Yeston. The Korean production premiered in 2015, adding its own interpretation and musical elements to the original work. It ranked No. 1 in musical ticket sales in both 2015 and 2016 and won the Grand Prize at the 11th Golden Ticket Awards, earning acclaim for combining artistic quality with popular appeal.
