Festival d'Avignon

The Festival d'Avignon is one of the world's largest and most famous events for contemporary live performing arts. Founded in 1947 by Jean Vilar, the festival transforms the historic French city into an open-air theatre every July. It is divided into two primary sections: the prestigious Festival d'Avignon (the official program) and the Festival Off (a fringe event).
