Saša Ljubović

Saša Ljubović is a queer Sydney-based director whose practice focuses on storytelling through movement. They are the founder of the movement-based theatre company, MERAK (est. 2021). Saša was also the 2022 recipient of Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s Directors’ Lab. Saša is committed to telling stories where gender non-conforming and women characters are central. Using the body as both a site of constraint and liberation, they explore identity, transformation, and resistance through movement. Their work challenges societal expectations of movement performance as a genre, dismantling binaries and expectations of what bodies in movement should look like.
