Hye gyeong Baek

Hye gyeong Baek is a theatre-maker who made her acting debut in 2016 and has since expanded her practice beyond playwriting into producing, directing, accessibility, arts education, and other areas of the performing arts. In March 2026, she received acclaim for Dinosaurs and a Dinosaur Sibling, presented as part of DOOSAN Art Lab Performance 2026, in which she served as playwright, director, and performer. Upon being selected as a DAC Artist, Baek shared her aspirations: “I want to write stories that draw out the damp, sticky things buried deep within our lives and lay them out to dry, while embracing a world caught in a wretched cycle in which everything soon becomes damp again. Even if we cannot stop hating ourselves, I hope we can learn not to hate ourselves all over again for doing so. I feel deeply grateful and reassured to embark on what feels like a somewhat daunting journey as a writer alongside DOOSAN Art Center.”
