Hello, my name is Yeonsoo Kang, a 3rd member of HereWeAre Theatre Club.
For my first article, I'd like to share a guide to the area around the theatre which is my favourite restaurants and cafés near the venues,
along with some handy tips for making the most of intermission.
The restaurant and cafe route I've put together is centred on Daehangno, the neighbourhood near Hyehwa Station
where so many theatres are clustered together.
Let me share some of my absolute favourite spots in the area.
1. Cafe <Intermission>

As the name suggests, the owner is also a huge fan of theatre and musicals,
so one corner of the café is filled with programme books, posters, and various show merchandise.
If you sip coffee and flipping through a programme book over dessert, the time has flown by before you know it.
The cafe is within a seven-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station, and Naksan Park which is known for a wonderful spot for night views.
Is is just a ten-minute walk away, so I'd highly recommend making a stop there too.
he perfect place to take a breather between performances.
2. Sudowon

This place holds a very special place in my heart. After a show, it's the ideal spot to sit down with whoever you saw it
and talk through everything you just experienced. It's sometimes called "the darkest bar in Korea," and for good reason.
The space keeps LED lighting to an absolute minimum and little illumination there is has been designed to mimic candlelight,
so the atmosphere remains completely intact, with the rest lit by actual candles.
Theatre industry gossip has been known to surface here, so if you're curious about what goes on behind the scenes, this is definitely worth a visit.
((By the way, my top menu recommendation at Sudowon is the Communion Plate.
It pairs beautifully with whatever drinks everyone at the table orders — it's the kind of dish that stays on your mind long after you've left.))
Café Intermission and Sudowon, the two spots I've recommended today, are conveniently located among a cluster of theatres including Top art Hall, Comedy Art Hall, NOL Uniplex, Dotori Theatre among others.
If you ever find yourself with some free time in Daehangno, I'd strongly encourage you to stop by. Thank you!!
