NEW YORK, June 7, 2026 — The lights are up. The curtain has risen.
Broadway’s biggest night is officially underway.
The 79th Annual Tony Awards have begun at New York’s legendary Radio City Music Hall,
where the theatre industry’s brightest stars have gathered to celebrate a season packed with ambitious new works, beloved revivals, and milestone anniversaries.
Broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+, the ceremony is hosted by P!nk and features a dazzling lineup of presenters, including Annette Bening, Bowen Yang, Megan Thee Stallion, Paul Rudd, and more.
On the awards front, all eyes are onThe Lost Boys and Schmigadoon!
The two musicals entered the evening tied with 12 nominations each, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched races of the season.
In the play categories, the revival of Death of a Salesman arrived with nine nominations, while new works The Balusters and Liberation emerged as major contenders among this year’s most celebrated productions.
But the Tonys have never been just about who wins.
This year’s ceremony doubles as a celebration of Broadway history, bringing together generations of artists for a series of landmark anniversary performances.
Rachel Zegler takes center stage in a special tribute marking the 50th anniversary of A Chorus Line, one of the most influential musicals ever to grace a Broadway stage. Meanwhile, Chicago celebrates its 30th anniversary with a star-packed performance featuring P!nk, Queen Latifah, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alex Newell, Cedric the Entertainer, and Julianne Hough.
The moment carries an extra layer of Broadway lore. For the first time in half a century, songs from A Chorus Line and Chicago are being performed on the same Tony Awards broadcast—a reunion of two theatrical giants whose Tony journeys first intersected in 1976.
The celebrations continue with another crowd-pleasing reunion. In honor of its 15th anniversary, The Book of Mormon welcomes back its original Broadway cast, including Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Rory O’Malley, and Nikki M. James. The special performance is introduced by creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez.
One of the evening’s most emotional moments comes during the annual In Memoriam tribute. Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr. performs “Without You” from Rent, honoring the artists, creators, and visionaries the theatre community has lost over the past year.
And, of course, there is plenty of Broadway magic still to come.
All four nominees for Best Musical—The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titanique, and Two Strangers—take the stage throughout the evening, while revival contenders Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime, and The Rocky Horror Show showcase the productions that helped define this remarkable season.
As the ceremony unfolds, audiences around the world are watching, waiting, and cheering along.
Some will leave the night with trophies.
Broadway, however, is already celebrating.
